In recent years the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has paid greater attention to issues of child welfare. Clubs are now expected to show a greater awareness of these issues, and to have a Code of Good Practice in place.
The points below set out what Turnham Green expects from its coaches and all senior players involved with colts cricket.
All members of the Club involved with junior players should:
• Consider the wellbeing and safety of participants before the development of performance.
• Develop an appropriate relationship with junior members based on mutual trust and respect.
• Make sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those taking part.
• Promote positive aspects of the sport.
• Display high standards of behaviour and appearance.
• Follow guidelines laid down by the ECB.
• Never condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibited substances.
If you feel any member of the Club has breached any of these guidelines, or behaved in an inappropriate way in any other respect, please follow the Club complaints procedure as laid out in the Club rules (in the back of the Club handbook.)
If you felt a serious complaint was not handled properly by the Club you would be entitled to pursue the matter further through the ECB.
